Personal Profile
Austin J. Sanders has over 30 years of experience as an educator. His job titles include teacher, assistant principal, principal, program director, and school board member. He has worked in school districts in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Cincinnati, North College Hill, and Fairfield. While in Detroit, he led a writing program for Detroit high school students. The program was jointly sponsored by the Detroit Public Schools and the University of Michigan. His first Cincinnati position was that of Director of the International Studies Academy in the Cincinnati School District. He was the first African American appointed principal by the North College Hill School District. In Fairfield, he served on a district committee that led to the establishment of the Community Diversity Alliance (CDA). That program led to the establishment of diversity organizations in every Fairfleld school. Austin is one of the founding members of the Academic Mastery and Reconnection organization (AMR).
In addition to his role as a board member of AMR, Austin is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Dayton.
